15th Street Experience
15th Street Experience
The 15th Street Experience is a placemaking and infrastructure project that will transform 15th Street, from Capitol Avenue to Bent Avenue, into a walkable, welcoming downtown destination. Rooted in Cheyenne’s railroad heritage, the project improves safety, connectivity, and access while linking key downtown areas and supporting long-term economic vitality.
Key Goals
Enhance pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle circulation while maintaining and optimizing parking.
Improve corridor safety and aesthetics through streetscape enhancements, lighting, and fencing.
Integrate historic rail cars and rail-themed amenities as functional and interpretive features.
Strengthening physical and visual connections between downtown destinations and multi-modal systems.
Support economic development through placemaking, public gathering spaces, and adaptive reuse opportunities.
The project has been guided by a community-based planning approach that reflects the vision of residents, business owners, and visitors. Its long-term vision is to establish the 15th Street Rail Car Experience Corridor as a living testament to Cheyenne’s rail history while safely and comfortably moving people through an accessible, pedestrian-friendly environment that serves as a source of civic pride and a regional attraction.
