I-25 Pedestrian Bridge
I-25 Pedestrian Bridge
The City of Cheyenne is considering a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge over Interstate 25. The purpose of the new structure would be to:
- Provide safe pedestrian and bicycle connectivity across I-25 (including future Greenway connectivity), particularly to F.E. Warren Air Force Base, and
- Allow for a connection to a potential parking lot on the west side of I-25 that could be used for events at Frontier Park, including Cheyenne Frontier Days. Access to the parking lot would be from an improved road that would parallel I-25 and connect to Randall Avenue.
This project is currently in the planning stages.
Frequently Asked Questions
The project will provide pedestrian/bicycle (and future Greenway) connectivity to F.E. Warren Air Force Base. It will also address traffic congestion and pedestrian safety during CFD by providing designated parking overflow and a safe I-25 crossing.
Minimal impacts are anticipated. The project avoids wetlands and historic resources and will implement dust-control measures during construction.
The City of Cheyenne is the project lead. WYDOT is the NEPA review agency in coordination with FHWA.
This project is in the planning stages. A construction timeline has not been finalized. Funding is projected to come from both public and private sources, including a matching fund established by the Wyoming Legislature to improve pedestrian safety at rodeo events.
